SCRABBLE is a word game played by two, three or four players, consisting of players forming interlocking words on the board, using the letter tiles. All words are to be connected, as in an ordinary crossword puzzle, players scoring points for the words which they make.
SCRABBLE is tremendously sociable when played SGU3a style! Our players become friends, meeting in Gillingham on Friday mornings in a regular café location with coffee and snacks available for those interested.
We currently number 7 and have scope to increase to around 10 or 12. We’re all friendly with each other and welcome newcomers, whether novices or experienced players.
You can make it a highlight of your week, whether sharpening your word skills or treating the morning as a social get-together.
We treat SCRABBLE sessions as sharing and learning experiences where words are concerned. Competition is keen but not too serious. We play in pairs usually.
Several of us have word look-up dictionaries, including the current Collins Scrabble Dictionary, the arbiter of allowable words that can be used in the game.
If you have your own word lists or word aids, do bring them along with you.
